Culinary culture

Typical for Vienna is the so-called Beisl, where the famous Wiener Schnitzel, goulash and pastries are served amid a rustic ambience. Places where the Viennese can pursue their preference for hearty dishes.

The manifold influences that impacted the city over the centuries have left their mark on Viennese cooking. Traveling through this, the most important intersection between Orient and Occident, between northern and southern Europe, were both Italians, Germans, Hungarians and Ottomans, each leaving behind some of their own dining and drinking customs. The Viennese coffee house is evidence of this, as is the love of the Viennese for Hungarian goulash. No wonder, then, that one of the most popular and most famous restaurants in the city bears the name "Gulaschmuseum".

The Restaurant at Your Hotel

Vienna's hotel kitchens are also renowned for their exquisite cooking. Which is why many of these hotel restaurants become a dining destination for out-of-town visitors. They present wonderful opportunities to treat yourself to some of Vienna's diverse culinary dishes. Austria also boasts a rich wine-drinking tradition. Our fine selection of young and older wines is guaranteed to impress, and not only the wine connoisseur. One particularly well-known Viennese wine specialty is the "Heurige", a young wine traditional served at a so-called Buschenschank wine tavern.
